The Korea Badminton Association is in deep trouble these days. Since Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), a star in women's singles, revealed the association's absurdity shortly after winning the Paris Olympics, problems have been revealed one after another and the association's presidential system has collapsed.

At the time, Won Kwang-dae professor Kim Dong-moon claimed himself as a firefighter. Kim, a former star player who won two gold medals and one bronze medal at the Olympics, challenged the next presidential election of the Badminton Korea Association to be held early next year.

Professor Kim, who retired after the 2004 Athens Olympics, has been teaching at Wonkwang University, his alma mater, since 2012 after studying in copyright.

He, who has not directly addressed badminton issues, decided that he should no longer remain silent and threw his hat into the ring with the determination to make changes at the forefront of his administration.

Professor Kim told News 1 on the phone on the 4th, "I also received a proposal for running in the 2021 election when current chairman Kim Taek-kyu was elected. However, I did not come forward because I thought it was not the right time yet," adding, "However, I felt frustrated by the way the badminton community is trying to follow the administration without change, so I finally thought of running and recently officially announced it."

Currently, the Badminton Association is not doing its job. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has found that most of the allegations of malpractice and misappropriation of items sponsored by the association's president have been turned out to be true, and that items to be supplied to the team went to delegates, directors, the public offering project promotion committee and senior members of the association.

"I felt a heavy sense of responsibility as a badminton player and felt sorry for my fans as I saw the current executive team trying to avoid responsibility in the recent parliamentary questioning," Kim said. "If the current executive team had proceeded with matters related to sponsor companies in a more transparent manner, it might have been applauded instead of criticism. We couldn't do that, and we ended up here. The same goes for the controversy over payback."

A recent Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism investigation revealed that incentives were not paid to national players under contracts with equipment companies and sponsors.

After the 2016 Rio Olympics, many national athletes complained about group sponsorship contracts with Lee Yong-dae's retirement announcement. Professor Kim, who was a member of the Badminton Association's performance improvement committee, played a big role in creating the incentive system and mediated the players and association.
Professor Kim expressed regret, saying, "This could have been prevented if the incentive system was maintained and communication between the players and the association was being carried out properly."

Professor Kim said, "If I become the president of the association, I will put emphasis on communication with the field. Through many exchanges with athletes, leaders, and sportsmen, I need to listen to what they want and coordinate and put them together," and appealed, "I can think about and solve problems from more diverse perspectives than anyone else because I was an elite athlete and had a history of sports administration in college."

Professor Kim pledged △ reorganization of regulations of the association △ transparent system for national team selection △ operation of communication mechanisms for trust between the association and athletes △ joint growth of daily sports and elite sports △ transparent financial management.

The plan is to listen to the players' voices and give autonomy to sponsorship contracts, but also to implement an administration that is not biased to one side, such as emphasizing the responsibilities that players should have.

In addition, we are considering ways to coexist in relation to the conflict between daily sports and elite sports, which are always a problem.

There is also an expectation that daily sports and elite sports can be great together if they break away from the current administration centered on the national team and strengthen the domestic league to attract corporate support and solidify their foundation.

"When I was studying in copyright, I felt the need for joint growth with elite physical education departments," Kim said. "I am also considering making badminton professional in order to revitalize Korea. To that end, the Korea Federation of Business and the association should discuss a lot. If I am elected, I will lay the foundation for professionalization and lead the boom of badminton in Korea." 먹튀검증

Lastly, he said, "It is said to be a crisis in badminton, but on the other hand, it is also an opportunity for reform. I will lead a new leap forward through drastic changes and challenges."
